Your Mind Can Vary the Progress You Make from Excercising. (for science class)

Ordinary people were tested to see how well they did excercising when they were being mentally tested and mentally rested.

The Study
The 16 participants had the same amout of sleep, same amount to eat, smae amout to eat, and had the same exact meal after each test. The trials started with a brutal 90 minute stationary bike that made the bikers pay close attention and answer questions while they were riding with a fast response. this would be the mental test. The exercisers complained to be tired and lack lots of energy.
After this, the actual test was preformed. Bikers would ride until they couldn't ride anymore and scientists recorded that time. Exhaustion point was defined as when they had less that 60 tire rotations per minute over a period of five seconds.
Throughout both excercises, scientists took not of heart rate, oxygen consumption, cardiac output , blood pressure, ventilation, and blood lacate levels. Scientists offered an award to the best excersiser to keep motivation high.

Results
"The participants stopped exercising 15% earlier, on average, when they were mentally fatigued," results said. All participants stopped at exhaustion point at about the same time, yet mentally fatigued people had a higher effort rate at the begining, and reached the endpoint sooner. Motivation was basically the same for both tests, therefore this was not a factor.

Rutgers-Newark marks 40th anniversary of Conklin Hall takeover

Did you know that in 1969 and before, Rugters-Newark was a whits people only school? Well, 39 years ago today, there was an angy mob that was protesting about the color separation.Fortunately, they succeeded! So to celebrate, today students marched to Universal Avenue where this all took place and made speaches, panels and events agnowledging that the protesters were they and going strong for 72 hours. Today, Rugters- Newark is ranked the mostracially-diverse public university campus in the United States of America. So to come from being an all white school, this is amazing. Rugters- NewarkChancellor Steven Diner says that he doesn't remember any other protest that has ever taken place that was successful as this one. For the ceremony today, most protesters came back in their late 50's early 60's to help celebrate. They all had different emotions when everything was taking place. Many cannot believe that it already has been close to 40 years. They remember it like it could have been yesterday. On February 24, 1969, close to two dozen people sid into the building to protest and chained the doors while some stood by the doors to negotiate with the officers. An angry group of white men for Essex County college tried to break down the door with a telephone pole, they were unsuccessful. Overall, the day was very hectic and should always be rembered.

Lately in Science Class......

Curently in science class, we are building rollercoasters to help learn about friction, and gravity. It sounds fun and suprisingly, it is, thought it is not as easy as it sounds. We need at least three hills and lots of turns or twists. In order to even be graded a marble must be able to run continously through the coaster. Not to mention, we are making it only out of common household like papertowel rolls and cereal boxes. Our final product was due today but unfourtanetly, I was out sick today so I am very anxious to see the how it turned out. We started making plans and building on monday so, we didn't have a whole lot of time to make it, so we did the most we could with the time alowed.

Uncovering the lost Path of the Most Wanted Nazi

http://nytimes.com/2009/02/05/world/africa/05nazi.html?_r=1&ref+http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/05/world/africa/05nazi.html?_r=1&ref=world=world

A medical doctor that worked in concentration camps who was also called Dr. Death was one of the most wanted Nazi's. He was born with the name of Aribert Ferdinand Heim and he worked on healthy inmates and didn't work on people who actually needed help. He was a so called bad doctor. he would take organs out of healthy inmates, not work on prisoners with anestheisa, then leaving them to die on the operating table. In 1962, he barely escaped being captured by Nzi police that were being sent around to find any leftover Nazi's. His hiding place since then and death in 1992 was not known until now. This was a very sly man who was always quick on his feet. At first, witnesses said that he was hiding somewhere in Latin America. a briefcase found in storage told us all about how he got to the middle passage, his life, and death in Egypt. Truly this was a mysterious man. If you would like to learn more, please feel free to click on the link above. I hope you enjoy this.
